Organization Overview
What UPP does: UPP supplies upcycled, plant-based protein and fibre ingredients designed to be easy for food manufacturers to integrate (“drop-in” formats) to improve nutrition, lower cost, and reduce Scope 3 emissions—without relying on novel-food technologies.
Upcycled inputs (what’s being rescued): UPP upcycles vegetable crop side-streams, primarily brassica crops such as broccoli (e.g., parts that are typically underutilised), transforming them into specification-grade ingredients.
Ingredients / product formats (examples):
UPP’s portfolio includes ingredient SKUs positioned around protein, fibre, and other fractions, including:
Prota (awaiting novel status confirmation) and Prota+ (in development)
Fiba (fermented fibre)
Necta (natural sugar fraction / fermentation feedstock use cases)
Ova and Ola (in development )
Typical application areas include burgers, sausages, breads, cakes, sauces, smoothies, soups, and pet food.
Differentiators: UPP is an “agriculture-to-ingredient” platform, combining:
Patent-protected automated selective harvesting (“Harvesta”)
Data/ML-enabled field insights
A production process designed to deliver consistent ingredient performance from variable crops
Quality, safety, and certifications
ISO 9001:2025 certified
HACCP implemented; BRCGS audit scheduled (Feb 2026); SEDEX in progress
Allergen positioning: Products are allergen-free by formulation and no UK/EU 14 declarable allergens intentionally used
Sustainability / impact claims: UPP has had an independent LCA with <0.25 kg CO₂e per kg for its ingredients
