Food System Hackers

Organization Overview

Food System Hackers (FSH) is a pioneering organization at the forefront of transforming our food system through innovative, scalable solutions. Our flagship initiative, the Nexus and Nodes model, represents a revolutionary approach to addressing food waste, climate change, and community resilience simultaneously.

The Nexus, our centralized hub, serves as a powerhouse for food rescue, processing, and distribution.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including biodigesters and advanced food processing equipment, the Nexus can efficiently upcycle food that would otherwise go to waste. This not only diverts food from landfills but also creates value-added products, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating economic opportunities.

Our Nodes, reimagined community-based grocery stores, form the distribution network for these upcycled products. Tailored to local needs, Nodes provide accessible, affordable, nutritious food options in areas often underserved by traditional retailers.

FSH's approach goes beyond mere food redistribution. We're creating a closed-loop system that:

Rescues food at every stage of the supply chain
Upcycles otherwise wasted ingredients into high-quality products
Supports regenerative agriculture practices
Empowers local communities through job creation and education
Reduces the food system's carbon footprint

As members of the Upcycled Food Association, we're excited to collaborate with industry leaders, share our innovative model, and contribute to the growing upcycled food movement. FSH sees our Nexus and Nodes model as a critical next step in scaling upcycled food solutions, making them accessible to a wider audience, and creating systemic change in our food system.
